ARTS IN EDUCATION PROGRAMS

As an illustrator, my strength is demonstrating ideas visually.  I share these visual thinking strategies with students through the use of a soft modeling compound (clay-like, and classroom friendly!) to create artwork that is 3 dimensional with strong curriculum content.

I am available to come to your school as an Artist in Residence. All of these programs provide students with a hands-on Sculptural Illustration experience!

You can choose from a program below, or we can design a program to fit your school's needs! Projects can be designed for small groups, by grade level, or whole school 500 student events with display!!

RESIDENCY PROGRAMS:

  • STORIES AND SCULPTURES
This residency project links the curriculums of Art and Language Arts. Beginning with a creative visualization, students will then sculpt a character from their imagination. The art will be the starting point for a creative story. (available as a LIBRARY PROGRAM)

  • THE GAME SHOW
The curriculum connections are unlimited as the game can be adjusted, readjusted and updated with new questions. Working cooperatively, students will make a painted canvas game board. Individually, students will  create sculptured game pieces.

  • CHARACTER MATTERS
Students  create sculptural illustrations of character development concepts. Final art creates a banner illustrating positive character traits, (i.e. Respect, Responsibility, Perseverance, caring, friendship...)

  • BOOK AWARD PROGRAM!
The book award residency project links the curriculums of Art and Language Arts. Students use the design skills they learn in art class to demonstrate their knowledge of books! They will create Clay relief "medals" and certificates in honor of their favorite book choices. (available as a LIBRARY PROGRAM)

  • GET A CLUE @ THE LIBRARY
Summer Library program. We will create fabric masks in the image of our favorite characters!

TEACHER DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS:

(ALL workshops are hands-on art experiences! Up to 2 hours, 20 teachers)

  • Reading, Writing and Art
Bring hands on art experiences to all areas of the curriculum!  Explore materials that are classroom friendly!

  • Art Activities for Math skill building
Sculpture and painting techniques to reenforce math concepts.

  • Buckram Masks workshops!
Make beautiful durable masks.  This fabric holds color and glitter! Design an animal mask, or storybook character!
