School Visits

Teacher recommendations:

“The students just loved learning new techniques with the air dry clay and sharing all their favorite books with Laura. Their imaginations ran wild and we were left with a gorgeous display mingling ART and ELA that the entire building has enjoyed.”  Corinna Scinnerer, Teacher, Zoller Elementary

Thanks so much for helping our students to create such creative sculptures to enrich our Parents As Reading Partners Program. You know how to bring out the artist in all of OESJ kids.  As always, you work with any of our themes and create awesome displays. Students love seeing their work displayed and it makes an impressive showcase for parents and community members for the Closing Program evvening. We always enjoy your visits and look forward to working with you in the future.
Sincerely,
Andrea Null

RESIDENCY PROGRAMS:

  • STORIES AND SCULPTURES
    This residency project links the curriculums of Art and Language Arts. Beginning with a creative visualization, students will then sculpt a character from their imagination. The art will be the starting point for a creative story. (available as a LIBRARY PROGRAM). What an amazing story starter project. We branched off with “What ifs” of all the characters we created. An imagination explosion!

  • TOWER OF CHARACTER This residency project links the curriculums of Art, Language Arts, History, stories, and ART! Students will use air dry clay to create a character from a book they have read or written! Then all the sculptures will be added to a display tower. Great whole-school/500 students celebration project!

  • CHARACTER MATTERS
    Students  create sculptural illustrations of character development concepts. Final art creates a banner illustrating positive character traits, (i.e. Respect, Responsibility, Perseverance, caring, friendship…) Instead of focusing on bullying, we focus on the positive! Great whole school celebration!
    { This program needs Parent Helpers for assembly each day to keep up with the kids! }

  • KID’S CHOICE AWARD!
    My most popular project! The book award residency project links the curriculums of Art and Language Arts. Students use the design skills they learn in art class to demonstrate their knowledge of books! They will create Clay relief “medals” and certificates in honor of their favorite book choices. (available as a LIBRARY PROGRAM) The final work is not only visually beautiful, but it is an interactive book recommendation. Sharing what we love about the books we love!
